Scripture
“... that your faith and hope might be in God.”
1 Peter 1:21 KJV
“... obeying the truth through the Spirit ... love one another with a pure heart fervently:”
1 Peter 1:22 KJV
“... the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
1 Peter 1:23 KJV
“But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.”
1 Peter 1:25 KJV
Observation
These verses jumped out to me this morning. This past year and a half the Holy Spirit has been loudly saying to put your faith and hope in God. But it’s hard y’all. People are crazy!! This world is crazy. And obeying what the word says and loving others is easier said than done.
Application
Fo me the commands are clear cut. But the application is difficult because people are difficult. So for me before I engage with anyone I know I need to pray. Before I spend time with my family, friends, small group, stranger, etc. Spending time in the word daily, if not multiple times a day is vital to keeping my heart in the right place. Knowing that while I may think I’m easy to love my perspective is skewed and biased. God loves everyone you come in contact with. He wants to save as many as he can. He wants to use you to save as many people as he can. But it all comes down to relationship. With him, with others, relationships are a key to fulfilling his command to: "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20
Prayer
God help me to love others like you. To have a heart for those not like me, those who don't think like me, for those who I would rather not engage with. BECAUSE you love them as much as you love me. Thank you for your word and for showing me how to love through your son Jesus. Amen.
