Scripture

“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Observation

The commands in the verses that stood out to me were to do good and to stay away from the freshly and sinful desires that wage war against your soul. The first is part of God’s plan for you and me. To do good in this life. It says in the verses before to submit yourselves to every human authority and those who work for these authorities for the Lord’s sake. Throughout the Bible it is also stated that unless you would sin against God in obeying the laws you are required to follow them. (Examples include Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendego)

Application

Do good. Abstain from sinful desires. Submit to authority.

Prayer

God, please help me to do good every day. Help me to stay away from sinful desires. Change my heart to submit to authority knowing that it is you I am submitting too. God you are in contro. Amen.
