1 Peter 3:1-5

“Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

“While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.”

“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”

Observation

The verses above stood out to me the most today. The words from them that jumped out were: inner self, a meek and quiet spirit, chaste conversation, and fear. The commands today were to submit yourselves to your husbands and to let your inner beauty shine.

Application

I am not normally a quiet person. I will be in certain situations but most of the time I am very vocal and my volume is at a higher than it needs to be level. I know because my husband reminds me continually. I get excited easily and when it’s something I am passionate about. Oh. You better buckle up. My energy can become frenzied and while this isn’t always bad it can be overwhelming at times. For me stopping or pausing before I get caught up in a good idea or plan has been how I have applied these verses. To hold my words and think hmmmm is this necessary, is this person listening, am I throwing pearls to swine, etc.

Also meditation is a great application. Thinking on God’s words as I go through my day to remind myself this life I have been given is a blessing. I can bless others if I allow God to use me in the ways he has planned.

Prayer

God thank you for the Bible. Thank you for this life. Help me to submit and surrender. Use me for the plans you have. Help me to quiet my thoughts so I can hear you. Amen.
