Scripture
“They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it. But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”
1 Peter 3:11, 14-15 NIV
“Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”
1 Peter 3:11, 14-15 KJV
Observation
This line stood out to me: Even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Mostly because it mixes joy and suffering. That even though I might suffer there will still be joy. God can use my suffering to bless me and those around me. These were the commands:
Turn from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it. Do not fear threats and do not be frightened. In your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. Do this with gentleness and respect.
Application
Right now in my life the last command would be the most applicable. Being prepared for me means reading his word daily, not being so task oriented but people oriented, and with that realizing God will use others to teach me too.
Prayer
Thank you for all your blessings God. Please help me to be gentle and respectful when sharing my hope with everyone for they have been made in your image. Amen.
