1 Peter 3:16-22

“For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

“The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:”

Observation

“By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison” was the verse that stood out today. I have often wondered about the people before Jesus came. Were they able to join God in heaven? What about those after Noah who didn’t know about God/Jesus? Sometimes I end up with more questions than answers. And that’s ok. I know I will never understand everything this side of heaven. And quite possibly won’t even understand everything when I am in heaven. But I trust God and know he wants to save as many as possible. 1 Timothy 2:4

Application

We are saved by our faith in Jesus. It is more than an intellectual ascent but a posture of the heart. It allows us to become more like Christ.

We will suffer in this life but if it’s God’s will that is better than suffering because we chose to do something evil. Get baptized, choose to do good, and listen to the Holy Spirit. Feed the Holy Spirit by reading the word of God everyday.

Prayer

God thank you for choosing to save me. Thank you for your word as a daily reminder of how to live here on Earth. Help me to do the good you have planned. Align my heart with your will for my life. Amen.
