Scripture
“As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.
1 Peter 4:2 NIV
“That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.”
1 Peter 4:2 KJV
Observation
After reading the verses today this is how I summarize what is being said: Christ suffered for us. The will of God is more important than ours. Do not dwell on the past and what you used to do. Those who are not believers will not understand why your live the way you live. But everyone will have to stand before God.
Application
As far as my life right now, it would be reminding myself that Christ suffered for me and my sins. But now I can live a life free from those consequences. I can choose to do God’s will or my own. It’s better to choose his will but it’s also difficult because I am here on Earth. But everyone who is a believer faces the same challenge. To do God’s will or not.
When I stand before God I want him to say well done my good and faithful servant. This is a motivation every day to do good and to live a life changed because he changed and is changing me from the inside out.
Prayer
Dear God, Thank you for suffering for me. Help me to suffer for you by putting to death the desires of my flesh. Please help me to align my heart with your will. Amen.
