Scripture
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”
1 Peter 4:8 NIV
“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.”
1 Peter 4:8 KJV
Observation
Live according to God in the spirit. Be sober and pray. Above all things demonstrate fervent charity/love towards others.
Be hospitable without grumbling.
Use whatever gift you have received to serve others.
Be faithful stewards of God‘s grace in its various forms.
Application
Applying this right now looks like all of this but in varying degrees of practice. Some of these actions are easier, others aren’t. Depending on the person as well. It’s easy to love those who are easy to love. Those who are hateful, degrading, evil, etc. make me want to turn my back on them. However, again and again I am reminded by the spirit and the word of how God loves me as much as these who in that moment or situation I feel are unlovable. I have had to repent when I let my emotions dictate my response/reaction. I don’t always love how God loves but I am learning and relearning and growing in what God is teaching me.
Prayer
Thank you God for loving me. Thank you for teaching me. Forgive me for the times I have failed. Please help me to love others fervently as you love me. Amen.
