1 Peter 1:10-15

“...by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.”

“As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;”

“As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;”

Observation

What stood out to me from these specific verses is that angels want to look into the things that have been revealed to us. 🤯 I have read these verses before but they jumped out at me this time around. I am also grateful for the grace in being able to grow. To be able to leave behind the things that are distracting us from God.

Application

One of my goals for the year is to cut out distractions in my day to be able to be more intentional with my time. I started to feel this pull from God. Not only to spend more time with him and to focus on the plans he has for me but to be present in the moments with everyone. Some days it's hard. It is one of the reasons I started this blog.

But what I love about these verses is that for each person it will look different. My desires have changed from wanting to sit and binge watch or read a series. I'm not saying these things are wrong or evil. But for me it was a struggle and an addiction. I would neglect spending time with God in order to do these things.

There are still days when I want to just do what I want to do but in spending more time with God I am more able to reign in these desires and shift it to time with him. Don't get me wrong I still watch tv and read and do other things but as I am doing them my mind is more connected to God. I know this is only the beginning but I am excited to see what other plans God has that are way better than mine.

Prayer

Thank you God for not giving up on me. For giving me grace upon grace when I take more steps back than forward. Please help me to keep the perspective of an eternal life with you. To live a life that pours out joy and would draw others to you. Amen.
