1 Peter 3:6-10

“... do what is right and do not give way to fear. Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing...

“... do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. Likewise, husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing...

Observation

There were a lot of commands in these verses. But what stood out to me were the words gracious gift of life. As well that we are to bless to be a blessing to others. 🤯

Even when they are evil, not kind, etc.

Application

In my life right now the blessing others or being a blessing would be the application. For me this means having a heart posture that is full of gratitude. This is not something that comes naturally to me. I am learning every day how to do this. But I know it is what God wants for me because it makes my life full. I believe living a life of thankfulness for everything: the mundane, struggles, blessings, etc. is how God wants all of us to live.

Prayer

God thank you for focusing us on how we should live our lives. Thank you for blessing us with the life we have. Help us to have your perspective. To see this life how you do. To be able to live a life full of thanks. To be a blessing to other because of the blessings you have given us. Amen.
