“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;”
1 Peter 5:2 NIV
“not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”
1 Peter 5:3 NIV
“In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.””

“Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;”

Observation
These commands are specific to the elders/pastors/leaders in the church:
Feed the flock, shepherd the people. Do not pursue wealth.
Be eager to serve.
Be an example.
Commands to the flock/all people of the church:
Submit to the elders.
Be humble.
Application
Submit and be humble are the commands for me. Since I am not a leader or elder or in a position at the church my role there is to submit, serve, and be humble. But the church is not just the place I attend. It is everywhere I go. I attend a local church but the global body of Jesus’ church is everywhere and everyone. So everyday my orders are to submit to God, serve others, and be humble. Knowing and acting out of love and the realization that I am no better than anyone and more importantly that God loves better than I ever could.
Prayer
Thank you for using me to serve and love on people. Help me to continue learning how to be humble.
